stay connected

When a karmayogi enjoys the material world through senses controlled by his mind he achieves happiness; by conquering that happiness too he achieves God- His wisdom becomes stable in God.

This shloka of geeta says:

Every karmayogi should keep his mind under his control. If he doesnot have control on his mind he will get addicted to the outputs of his works which may result in his fall.

Every yogi should control his mind, specially the karmayogi because he is never detached from social life.

As per geeta when a person gets addicted to the results of his works and his work is controlled by that addiction he is inviting self destruction.

On the other hand when his work is selfless he is blessed with true happiness and wisdom. his wisdome becomes stable in one thing – God. He knows that he has only one Goal in this life and that is to stay connected to God.

  1. There is also another subtle point to be considrerd. Attachment brings on rebirths according to the Indian concept of reincarnation of soul.

Every act brings forth a result and whether good or bad it has to be experienced by the same person afterwards. It forces further births on us. Newton would state it thus: "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

Discarding the fruits of labor releases us from this predicament. Our ancient thinkers were shrewd and very very subtle. We will think they were talking about mysticism and nonsense, and suddenly we realize that it is based on sound priciple of nature:)

  3. No I find it surprising? Some of our life's events would look bewildering in the absence of the theory. I keep myself open to all theories till it is proved completely otherwise.

  5. Even the great Buddha who denied the reality of god did not deny the possibility of re- incarnation. He explained it in this way.

Desires are as physical as we are. They would not disperse once the physical body dissolves. They continue to exist and would seek a body to manifest themselves again. This is the cause of rebirth. The only way to eliminate rebirths is to eliminate desires while we live.

I believe in what he says. It is as material as anything else is. Thoughts, desires, feelings and emotions are things. Even the moderns are coming to that conclusion. It has even been proved that mind(thought) can alter digital data prerecorded.Experiments are underway to know more about it.

So what Buddha says might be true :)

The Christan theology on the other hand considers our life as a single time privilege as you say. I have studied its main propositions and found it a little weak on the philosophical side. Man sinned and was ousted from Edan. Later god relented and send his son to absorb sins of mankind. Now all of us are again qualified to enter heaven because of the crucification of Jesus. A simple philosophy. One has only to do good and wait for the day of Judgement.

I am not against it. If it makes people do good, its lovely. But my mind is not satisfied with a solution which does not appeal to me logically.

  7. Well there are flat-earth theorists still at large in the world. They believe that everything science says is untrue and is a figment of imagination. They are Helio centered, that is, believes that the earth is stationary and its the sun which goes round it.

So thats also a theory very much in existence
